Player Profile: Allison Stratton
Meet Allison Stratton, a passionate pickleball enthusiast who discovered the sport in 2018 while living in San Diego. “I fell in love with pickleball right away,” she shares with a smile. “I grew up playing tennis—my mother was a top junior and amateur player, and I played in high school and college, but I never quite matched her skill. Pickleball, though, is so much fun! I love the fast-paced 11-point games and the strategic nuances that make every match exciting.”In 2022, Allison and her family relocated to Florida for work. There, she found a vibrant pickleball community. “The public courts in Florida were fantastic,” she recalls. “The open play was top-notch, and the community parks’ support for pickleball was truly inspiring.” When another job brought her family to San Francisco in 2023, Allison wasted no time diving into the local pickleball scene, playing at Presidio Wall, Louis Sutter, and the Bay Club. Since the Larsen courts opened in 2024, you can find her there most days.
Beyond pickleball, Allison is a talented professional with a background as a technology executive. She now thrives as a freelance website and graphic designer and digital marketer. Her creativity and drive extend to her community involvement, where she’s made a lasting impact. “I’ve been fortunate to serve in elected and appointed board roles,” she says. “Some of my proudest achievements include raising over a million dollars for Rady Children’s Hospital, serving on the Little League board, acting as President of our local Community Center, chairing a committee for a $34 million bond measure to rebuild our local school, and co-founding a Parent Advocacy group.”Allison has already gotten involved in local San Francisco Pickleball Community volunteer efforts and will soon take on more responsibility with newsletter communications and next-step partnership funding strategies for additional court facilities. Her experience and skills will contribute greatly towards the fundraising and marketing effort required to make SF a Pickleball a quality “destination” in the Bay Area. And you can bet that Allison will keep winning most of those exciting matches on the court too.
